Anne Goudvis
Anne Goudvis is a literacy educator and author known for her work on reading comprehension instruction and inquiry-based learning for elementary and middle grades. She has taught students in grades K–6, beginning her career in urban schools on the south side of Chicago, and has spent many years as a staff developer in the Denver area, working in culturally and linguistically diverse schools. She has also worked as a university instructor and continues to support schools and districts around the United States in implementing progressive literacy practices and comprehension across the curriculum.
Goudvis is the coauthor, with Stephanie Harvey, of Strategies That Work: Teaching Comprehension for Engagement, Understanding, and Building Knowledge, Grades K–8 (3rd ed., 2017), as well as The Comprehension Toolkit and The Primary Comprehension Toolkit series and related resources such as Comprehension Interventions and Comprehension Going Forward. She coauthored Inquiry Illuminated: Researcher’s Workshop Across the Curriculum (K–6) with Stephanie Harvey and Brad Buhrow, and, as a history enthusiast, she and Harvey coauthored the Short Nonfiction for Teaching American History series, including Colonial Times: Short Nonfiction for American History.
