Christopher Danielson

Christopher Danielson is a mathematics educator, curriculum designer, and author who has taught math to learners of all ages, from middle school students to college calculus students, as well as teachers and families. He earned a PhD in mathematics education from Michigan State University and has conducted research and teaching at Normandale Community College in Minnesota. Danielson has also designed curriculum at Desmos and founded Math On-A-Stick, a large-scale family math playspace at the Minnesota State Fair.

Danielson is the creator of the Talking Math with Your Kids project and blog, which offers ideas and products to help families engage in joyful, creative mathematical conversations. He is the author of several math-focused books for children and educators, including Which One Doesn’t Belong?: A Shapes Book, How Many? A Counting Book and its Teacher’s Guide, and How Did You Count?, as well as other works such as Common Core Math For Parents For Dummies. His books and guides emphasize deep mathematical ideas—such as counting, number language, units, grouping, and place value—and are grounded in his classroom experience and work with families at Math On-A-Stick.
