Franki Sibberson

Franki Sibberson is a literacy educator and consultant with over 30 years of experience teaching elementary students in Ohio, primarily in Dublin City Schools. Over the course of her career she has worked in multiple roles, including classroom teacher across various elementary grade levels, reading support and intervention teacher, curriculum support teacher, school librarian, literacy coach, and district-level leader for K–12 literacy programs. She is a past president of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), having served in that role in 2018–2019, and has also served on NCTE’s Executive Board. Sibberson holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in reading from Bowling Green State University.

Sibberson is the co-author of numerous professional books and resources on teaching reading, including Beyond Leveled Books: Supporting Early and Transitional Readers in Grades K–5, Still Learning to Read: Teaching Students in Grades 3–6, and Digital Reading: What’s Essential in Grades 3–8. Her work also includes titles such as Day-to-Day Assessment in the Reading Workshop, The Joy of Planning, Classroom Design for Student Agency, and *In Community with Readers: Transforming Reading Instruction
