John J. SanGiovanni

John J. SanGiovanni is a mathematics coordinator/supervisor in Howard County, Maryland, where he leads mathematics curriculum development, digital learning, assessment, and professional development for the district. He also coordinates the graduate program in Elementary Mathematics Instructional Leadership at McDaniel College and serves as an adjunct instructor there, supporting the preparation of new elementary mathematics leaders. SanGiovanni is an author and national mathematics curriculum and professional learning consultant and is a frequent speaker at national mathematics conferences and institutes.

He is widely recognized for his work on classroom practice and fluency, coauthoring multiple Corwin Mathematics titles including the Figuring Out Fluency series, the Mastering the Basic Math Facts series (in addition and subtraction, and in multiplication and division), and the Daily Routines to Jump-Start Math Class and Daily Routines to Jump-Start Problem Solving books, as well as Answers to Your Biggest Questions About Teaching Elementary Math and Productive Math Struggle: A 6-Point Action Plan for Fostering Perseverance. SanGiovanni is active in professional organizations, having served on the Board of Directors for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and on the Board of Directors for the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM).
