Judith C. Hochman

Judith C. Hochman, Ed.D., is an educator and administrator best known as the founder of The Writing Revolution, a nonprofit organization that disseminates evidence-based strategies for writing instruction in schools across the United States and internationally. She previously served as head of The Windward School in White Plains, New York, an independent school specializing in students with language-based learning disabilities, and as superintendent of the Greenburgh Graham Union Free School District in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. Hochman also founded the Windward Teacher Training Institute, where she has been a senior faculty member, and she continues to lecture and present workshops for educational organizations, colleges, and schools nationwide.

Hochman is the creator of the Hochman Method, the instructional approach at the core of The Writing Revolution. She is the author and coauthor of several influential works on writing instruction, including The Writing Revolution: A Guide to Advancing Thinking Through Writing in All Subjects and Grades (with Natalie Wexler), The Writing Revolution 2.0: A Guide to Advancing Thinking Through Writing in All Subjects and Grades, and Teaching Basic Writing Skills, as well as a chapter on composition in Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills and numerous articles on writing and literacy.[1
