Juli K. Dixon
Juli K. Dixon is a mathematics education scholar and author whose work focuses on deepening teachers’ mathematical content knowledge and their ability to help students communicate and justify mathematical ideas. She is a Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Central Florida, where she has served in faculty roles since 2000, following earlier work as a secondary mathematics educator at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and as a mathematics teacher in urban elementary, middle, and secondary schools. Dixon earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and education from SUNY Potsdam, a master’s degree in mathematics education from Syracuse University, and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in mathematics education from the University of Florida.
A prolific writer of K–12 mathematics resources, Dixon is coauthor of the Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching series, including Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching High School (Understanding How to Use Functions), Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching the Small Group, Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching Grades 3–5 (How Mathematics Progresses Within and Across Grades), Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching: Grades 6–8 (Unifying Topics for an Understanding of Functions, Statistics, and Probability), and Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching Grades K–2.
