Linda Dacey

Linda Dacey (also published as Linda Schulman Dacey) is a professor emerita of mathematics and education at Lesley University and a nationally recognized leader in mathematics education. She began her career as an elementary classroom teacher and later received a National Science Foundation grant to develop a model program for preparing middle school teachers. Her work with preservice and inservice teachers focuses on strengthening both mathematical content knowledge and instructional practice, and she has been inducted into the Massachusetts Mathematics Educators Hall of Fame for her contributions to the field. Dacey has served as a reviewer for NCTM’s Teaching Children Mathematics and guest editor for a New England Mathematics Journal issue on equity, with research interests that include problem solving, number sense, differentiation, and integrating the arts in mathematics.

Dacey is a prolific author of professional resources for teachers, including coauthoring the three-volume series Well Played: Building Mathematical Thinking Through Number Games and Puzzles for grades K–2, 3–5, and 6–8, which focuses on using games and puzzles to build mathematical thinking.
