Stephanie Harvey

Stephanie Harvey is a literacy consultant, author, and former classroom teacher who has spent her career teaching and learning about reading and writing, with a particular focus on K–12 comprehension instruction, inquiry-based learning, nonfiction reading and writing, and engagement in literacy. She worked for about 15 years as an elementary and special education teacher in public schools before serving for 12 years as a staff developer with the Denver-based Public Education and Business Coalition, and is now president of Stephanie Harvey Consulting, working with schools and districts on progressive literacy practices.

Harvey is the author or coauthor of numerous professional resources for educators, including Nonfiction Matters: Reading, Writing, and Research in Grades 3–8, Strategies That Work: Teaching Comprehension for Engagement, Understanding, and Building Knowledge, Grades K–8, and the Comprehension Toolkit series with Anne Goudvis.
