Tom Hierck

Tom Hierck is an educator, consultant, and author whose career in public education began in 1983 and has spanned all grade levels and multiple roles, including teacher, administrator, district leader, department of education project leader, and executive director. He is recognized for his expertise in RTI, MTSS, intervention, assessment, and school culture, and has worked with schools and districts across North America as a speaker and staff developer.

A prolific author, Hierck has written more than twenty books, including RTI Is a Verb (with Chris Weber), Starting a Movement: Building Culture From the Inside Out in Professional Learning Communities, You’re a Teacher Now! What’s Next? (with Alex Kajitani), Positive Behaviors Start With Positive Mindsets: Twenty-Eight Actions to Motivate Students and Boost Achievement (with Chris Weber), and Today’s Teachers, Tomorrow’s Leaders: A Guide to Identifying and Developing Future Administrators. His work focuses on creating positive school cultures, strengthening educator-student relationships, and ensuring that all students are viewed as “success stories waiting to be told.”
