About the Author

Nick Montfort

Nick Montfort is Professor of Digital Media at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he teaches the creative uses of computing and directs The Trope Tank, a laboratory and studio focused on electronic literature and computational art. He holds a master’s degree in creative writing from Boston University and a PhD in computer and information science from the University of Pennsylvania.

His books include Twisty Little Passages: An Approach to Interactive Fiction, The Future, and Exploratory Programming for the Arts and Humanities, Second Edition, published by MIT Press. He has also co-edited The New Media Reader, Racing the Beam, 10 PRINT CHR$(205.5+RND(1)); : GOTO 10, and Output: An Anthology of Computer-Generated Text, 1953–2023, and writes computer-generated poetry and other digital works.
