Robert J. Marzano
Robert J. Marzano, PhD, is an American educational researcher, speaker, trainer, and author known for his work on instruction, classroom assessment, standards-based grading, cognition, school leadership, and high-yield teaching strategies. He is cofounder and CEO (later strategic advisor) of Marzano Research in Colorado, where he has led research-based, partner-focused work to support K–12 educators and education agencies. Over a career spanning more than 50 years in education, Marzano has authored dozens of books and hundreds of articles and curriculum materials for teachers and students in grades K–12.
Marzano holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Iona College, a master’s degree in education in reading/language arts from Seattle University, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Washington. His publications include influential titles such as The New Art and Science of Teaching, Classroom Assessment and Grading That Work, and The New Art and Science of Classroom Assessment, as well as multiple volumes in The Classroom Strategies Series that focus on improving classroom instruction and assessment practices.
