Robert Eaker
Robert Eaker, EdD, is a professor emeritus of education at Middle Tennessee State University, where he also served as dean of the College of Education and later as interim executive vice president and provost. He is a former fellow with the National Center for Effective Schools Research and Development, and in 1986 Phi Delta Kappan recognized him as one of North America’s leaders in translating research into practice.
Eaker has written widely on effective teaching, effective schools, and professional learning communities (PLCs) and has coauthored numerous influential works on reculturing schools and districts into PLCs, including Professional Learning Communities at Work: Best Practices for Enhancing Student Achievement, Revisiting Professional Learning Communities at Work, Learning by Doing: A Handbook for Professional Learning Communities at Work, and Professional Learning Communities at Work and High Reliability Schools: Cultures of Continuous Learning.
